After being stranded in Nepal for 4 months, I begin to feel attached to the country and people, but I was told that I couldn’t see my friends in Nepal for two years. I still feel it is very dreamlike.

Guligo Jia is a photographer and documentary filmmaker based in Beijing, now she has been stranded in Nepal for 5 months.

From June 13-June 15, she has been in jail for three days for walking by a youth-led protest and took some photographs. The protest made government enact new policies regarding treating Covid-19 after a month, but now she’s facing deportation and a 2-year ban in Nepal for allegedly supporting the anti-government protest. She wrote her lockup diary on toilet paper and have a friend taken them outside. After jail, she gained a new perspective on friendship and relationship.
